The Impact of COVID-19
What’s the most complicated global issues in 2020 so far? Undoubtedly, the world’s attention still focus on COVID-19 since it outbreak in January. Coronavirus virus, as known as COVID-19, has infected around 230 thousands of citizens internationally and caused more than 9,000 death. Coronavirus, oriented from Wuhan, China, has been spread internationally. It is infectious disease, which infecting patients by person-to-person spread. Unfortunately, in the era of globalization, the COVID-19 pandemic extends fast and easily because of international flights. Thus, it has spread across the Asia, Europe, and America. Therefore, the terrifying pandemic has led to several phenomenon, including panic buying, travel ban, and economic crisis.
First of all, one of the chief results of COVID-19 is panic buying. Because of a sense of anxiety toward disease, consumers want to gain security through bulk-buying. Take Taiwan as an example, in February, 2020, the reported cases make people suffer from anxiety mentally; besides, Taiwan is closed to Mainland of China, which increase our nervousness. Consequently, we tried all kinds of method to restore masks in advance in case that we couldn’t buy anymore. As for citizens across the globe, people in different areas stockpiled some certain products, such as face masks, hand sanitizer, toilet roll and tissues, and instant noodles, and so on. It’s no exaggeration to say that coronavirus pandemic did led to the global phenomenon of panic buying.
Secondly, the governments put a ban on the flights to constrain the spreading of virus. The frequent flights had leaded more and more coronavirus patients The carriers got the disease abroad, and backed to Taiwan, which increased the risk of spreading virus. Besides, staying on airplanes, travelers are venerable to being infected. Thus, on 19th March, the government of Taiwan imposed travel restrictions, which forced foreigners are totally not allowed to enter Taiwan. Besides, the governments of Europe, America, and Asia all put the ban on flights, they aimed at stopping the contagious disease from infecting more and more people.
Thirdly, the experts assumed that the COVID-19 pandemic would lead to global economic recession. To protect employees, the factories had to stop operation for a while until the situation under control. As a result, employees lost their jobs and salaries, which led to the factories cannot earn revenues. Finally, they turned out to lay off more and more workers. When the unemployment rate rises, the uncertainty and hopelessness will be rooted in society. We have to understand that COVID-19 will surely bring about economic losses.
Undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted global citizen throughout the world. Firstly, people bought a great quantity of life necessaries. What’s worse, the government put the ban on travelling across the globe. Last, it will lead to enormous economic recession. When the government, scientists, and doctors are fighting for debating the coronavirus with tough, we should protect ourselves well to reduce the risk of being infected.
